DIY: Canvas Art

Create this!

Start with a cheap artist's canvas from a craft store

Use a pencil to trace the largest of the squares. For a 24" X 36" canvas I made 6"X6" squares with 2.4" horizontal and 1.5" vertical spacing

Line the interior of each square with painter's tape.

Do this 12 times.

Start painting the outside of the squares.  I used acrylic paint.

Color in the insides of each square with neutral colors.

Peel off the painter's tape.  Look at those crisp lines.

Color in the areas that the painter's tape covered.

Color in the interior squares and add a little dark paint around the edges.  Voila!
